Welcome to the International Achondroplasia Forum (IAF)!

The IAF is an independent network of specialists managing achondroplasia and related conditions, with a cross-specialty Steering Committee representative of the clinical and patient community.

Our aim is to improve overall care for individuals with achondroplasia and related conditions through establishing and promoting international collaboration between experts, sharing of best practices globally, developing clinical recommendations and supporting educational programmes for the clinical community.We are funded through independent educational grants. All IAF events and resources are free to access.

Recommendations for management of infants and young children with achondroplasia: Does clinical practice align?

New EAF Publication!

Our latest publication from Guillen-Navarro et al. explores the awareness of, and alignment with, guiding principles and international consensus recommendations for achondroplasia among healthcare professionals and caregivers. Results from two exploratory surveys found that while most healthcare professionals reported a high level of awareness of published guidance, awareness was lower among parent respondents. Many aspects of clinical practice align with recommendations, but not all; further research is needed to understand the reasons for deviations. This paper provides valuable insights into real-world management of achondroplasia and highlights an opportunity to bring healthcare professionals into closer alignment with international recommendations, as well as raising awareness of guidance among families and individuals with achondroplasia.
